Fabulous Gaziantep Game And Toy Museum
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural and Social Affairs build a museum which is in a historical Gaziantep house in an old neighborhood which name is Bey Neighborhood. That museum connected to Department of Museum and Library and it is named Gaziantep Game ond Toy Museum. Historical toys dating from 1700 to the present day are exhibited in the museum. This fabulous house, was expropriated by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality. The museum restored in 2010-2011 and curated by author and poet Sunay Akın who was the pioneer of the opening of the museum. The museum was opened to visit in 6 April 2013 as Turkey’s fourth game and toy museum.
Under the leadership of Sunay Akın, from 1700-1990 hand-made and factory-made 600 toys had been bought by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality European collectors and these toys are exhibited in the museum. That fabulous house is three-floored and it has a cave, which is two-floored, so it is a rare breed house. The open display area is almost 250 m2 and the area by covered exhibition unit is 315 m2.Basement of the museum has four caves, second floor of the museum has three caves and attic of the museum has one cave which two-floored. So there are 9 different parts in the museum.
Gaziantep Game and Toy Museum is the only game and toy museum in Turkey that has cave galleries and promotes of “World Children”. In the “World Children” section exhibits of 24 different countries children’s models who dressed in local dresses and their architectural works.
In the museum gallery; Mickey Mouse, Snow White, Popeye, Pinocchio, Laterna Magica which is the erato of the cinema, Doll Houses, Lehmann toys, plush toys, planes, robots and more waiting to meet with dear children and adults. People of all ages should come and visit that museum!
