Get to Know Turkish People
Almost everywhere in the world, the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to Turks is hospitality. And then the tolerance, history, cuisine and cultures of the Turks. At least we hope so…
Hospitality in Turks
In general, Turkish people attach great importance to welcoming their guests well. There’s even a expression for that in Turkish; “Tanrı Misafiri” When you translate this you’ll see have a different meaning word, be sure! (Like unexpected guest) The Turks want everyone who visits their homes to leave their homes in the most pleasing way possible. Even if the guest is full, she/he should eat, at least she/he should drink something. Guests’ should be as comfortable as possible. Everything from the bedspread to the pillow of the guest must be clean so that a special bedspread is laid for the guest and a special pillow is given to her/him. Even if you are totally a stranger, this situation does not change in a standard Turkish family. Let we summarize it and let’s start to the other characteristic feature.
Tolerance of Turks
Turkish people are very tolerant. What do we mean by tolerant? Turkish people always give a second chance against a mistake that made to him or her. There is a proverb about that “We are human and we make mistakes.” (Actually there are wise sayings for every situation in Turkish…) Since they have high empathy skills, it can sometimes seem strange that they are overly tolerant. But this doesn’t apply in all circumtances. Sometimes they can be overprotective about their country and cultures.
If you want to visit Turkey, there is nothing you need to worry about Turkish people. Those who really have Turkish culture are always kind, generous, tolerant and hospitable. We’d like to entertain you!
